Oil washing instead of sanding - the dust-free alternative
Wooden floors bring individuality and naturalness into your own four walls. So it's no wonder that they are so popular with many people. However, the fear of scratches on the chic flooring is omnipresent: "Shoes off!" before entering the room or "Careful!" as soon as a chair is moved. With lacquered floors in particular, there is a risk of moisture penetrating the wood due to damage and making the surface unsightly from the inside out. Often, the only remedy here is to completely restore the floor by sanding off the entire layer of lacquer - and this is time-consuming, dusty and very expensive.
The situation is different with wooden floors protected with natural oils. These not only contribute significantly to improving the indoor climate thanks to their open porosity. Cleaning, protection and, last but not least, value retention measures are also much simpler and more effective. Oiled floors offer the option of both partial repairs and extensive, thorough cleaning. With the help of our special oils and care products, oil washing makes sanding superfluous. With this method, your floor will shine again without the annoying dust. This cleaning is not only quick and comparatively inexpensive, but can also be repeated as often as necessary.
However, due to the general rise in costs, shortage of craftsmen, lack of raw materials, etc., it is not getting any easier for you as the end customer to have your existing floor cleaned and maintained. So we need a solution that allows our customers to make oiled floors in their own homes shine again easily and cost-effectively and to clean and maintain other smooth floor coverings professionally. And for precisely this purpose, we have developed the LEINOS Floorboy hire service into being.
LEINOS oil wash - step by step to your goal
Step 1 - Prepare the substrate
The surface should be vacuumed beforehand. In the case of superficial soiling, we recommend cleaning with a damp cloth before oil washing LEINOS Vegetable Soapand the subsequent neutralisation of the floor with clear water.
Step 2 - The LEINOS Oil Refurbisher apply
As soon as the substrate is completely dry, you can proceed in sections and gradually pour the oil onto areas of 1 - 3 square metres at a time.
Step 3 - Massage in the oil with the LEINOS Floorboy
Use our Floorboy and a black cleaning pad to gently massage in the applied oil. For sensitive floors, you should use a softer pad, such as the green pad. This will dissolve the dirty oil-wax layer and form oil-dirt streaks. There is hardly any risk of splashing your furniture, as the polishing machine works very slowly, cleanly and precisely. The applied oil should be used until it has reached a dark colour.
Step 4 - Remove dirty oil
The dirty oil is best swept up with a squeegee and then removed from the floor with a dustpan. Now remove the remaining dirty oil from the floor using the oil absorbent cloths from bopro.
You should repeat steps one to three until the oil is only slightly soiled and your floor shines again.
Step 5 - Aftercare
Finally, we recommend massaging in a wafer-thin layer of Oil Refurbisher. The best way to do this is to use a clean white polishing pad from bopro.
The treated surface should then be as dry as possible and no more oil should remain. For an optimum finish, you can also finish with an oil absorbent cloth under the pad or by hand.
