Finishing Lacquer

Varnishes

With LEINOS Finishing Lacquer, you can transform your indoor and outdoor wood projects into beautiful colours, all of which can be mixed together. The product creates a highly opaque finish which, thanks to the high-quality pigments used, really makes your project shine. Of course, the glossy Finishing Lacquer is not just for aesthetic purposes; it also helps to protect the wood: it is water-repellent and extremely weather-resistant.

To ensure it is well suited to dimensionally stable timber and to achieve a long service life, LEINOS Finishing Lacquer offers a degree of elasticity whilst still providing good hardness that is achieved very quickly. Its range of applications is not limited to wooden surfaces; it is also suitable for metal, stoneware surfaces and, in the colour white, for radiators.

Substrate and preparation
To achieve the best possible results, please refer to the technical data sheets for all products used. The substrate must be dry, sound, clean, free from grease and dust, and must not be absorbent. We recommend priming with LEINOS Resin Lacquer Primer 810 and an intermediate sanding with 150/180 grit. For highly absorbent surfaces, a three-step process with LEINOS Primer Oil 220, Resin Lacquer Primer 810 and a top coat may be advisable.

Scrape out the resin pockets and use LEINOS Thinner 200 Clean. Resin build-up cannot be prevented by coating techniques.

Brilliant, intense colours, such as yellow, red, etc., may naturally have lower opacity due to the pigments used. It is therefore advisable, when using these colours, to LEINOS Resin Lacquer Primer 810 Mix with the Finishing Lacquer in a ratio of 10:1, or apply a further coat in the desired colour.

Processing
The product is ready for application. Stir thoroughly before use! Apply by brushing, rolling or spraying. Test the compatibility and adhesion to the substrate by applying test patches. During application and drying, protect surfaces from rain, wind, direct sunlight and condensation. Between the primer and intermediate coat stages, lightly sand the surface (P180) once dry. Wear a dust mask when sanding! A second coat of Finishing Lacquer may be applied as required. The final gloss level will develop 2–3 weeks after application.

Sprayability:
Approximate guidelines (not binding): Airless: nozzles 0.23–0.33 mm, spray angle: approx. 30°, filter approx. 180 mesh.

Drying time
Dust-dry after approx. 8 hours, touch-dry after approx. 12 hours. Can be sanded and recoated after 24 hours. This system requires sufficient amounts of atmospheric oxygen to dry. Therefore, ensure good ventilation. At low temperatures, high humidity or if the maximum layer thickness is exceeded, thorough drying may be significantly delayed. To ensure thorough drying and to prevent odours, we always recommend using a fan to ensure sufficient air circulation over the painted surface during the drying phase.

Consumption
Approx. 70–100 ml/m², depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
