The Wall-Wipe Varnish can be applied as desired with the LEINOS Pigment Concentrates and sets just as few limits to your creativity as with the brush or sponge technique. What's more, you'll love the really easy handling of this material!

Application is this simple

Substrate and preparation
The substrate must be dry, solid, clean, free from grease and dust and free from penetrating substances. The substrate should be uniformly white so that the colour tones of the glazing technique are shown to their best advantage (e.g. painted with LEINOS White Emulsion Paint 650 or LEINOS Natural Resin Emulsion Paint 660). A brushed undercoat harmonises beautifully with the subsequent Wall-Wipe Varnish, as the brushed strokes reinforce the individual character of the handwork. Wallpapers that are intended to be painted over (such as woodchip wallpaper) can also be glazed or wiped if they are not too textured. A wallpaper texture or surface should not be coarser than the grain size of fine or at most medium woodchip wallpaper. To achieve optimum results, please refer to the technical data sheets for all products used.

Processing
With an effect wiping glove, a natural sponge or a lambskin roller. Room and surface temperature above 15 °C. The product is ready to use.

Mixing the Wall-Wipe Varnish:
LEINOS Wall-Wipe Varnish is ready to use and does not need to be thinned. A small container of LEINOS Wall-Wipe Varnish (0.75 l) provides a coverage of approx. 19 m² per application, depending on the absorbency and surface structure of the substrate.

Mix the desired amount LEINOS Pigment Concentrate into the LEINOS Wall-Wipe Varnish and stir well. Start with a small amount to begin with Pigment Concentrate and carry out preliminary tests, e.g. on a white A4 sheet of paper.

Applying the Wall-Wipe Varnish:
Wall-Wipe Varnish is usually applied with a lambskin wiping glove, but wiping with a natural sponge or cloth is also possible.

With the wiping glove or cloth:
Once a surface has been started, wipe through as quickly as possible to avoid the formation of edges due to premature drying. Work wall by wall from corner to corner and, if possible, wet on wet. Apply the Wall-Wipe Varnish thinly and in circular movements, if possible without settling, to achieve a smooth finish. After drying (approx. 1-24 hours), apply a second coat: If you do this again with the same glaze, you will achieve a tone-on-tone gradient and a more restrained texture. It becomes more lively if you mix a second, slightly darker colour and wipe it over the first, lighter layer. You can repeat this process several times until you achieve your desired result. As a rule, however, you can achieve very attractive effects with 2-3 coats of glaze.

With a sponge:
It is advisable to first apply a glaze colour with the wiping glove to provide the surface with a base colour that will serve as the basis for your dabbing technique. After drying, mix a second wiping glaze colour of your choice, dip the sponge slightly into this colour and dab it off again (e.g. on a clean bucket lid). Then dab the sponge lightly onto the surface to be painted, spreading it over the entire wall. Leave larger gaps at first and then gradually close them. The gaps can also be closed with another colour. Dab at different angles and as often and with as many different colours as you like. Usually a base coat and two different "dabbing colours" are used.

TIPS & TRICKS:

- Glazes with a particularly soft gradient are achieved with pastel colours. Add white paint to your desired colour tone LEINOS Pigment Concentrate added.
- If you want to achieve very thick to dark glazes, you can use the primer - e.g. LEINOS Natural Resin Emulsion Paint - tint a little more or glaze on a solid colour.
- Measure your pigment addition with a syringe from the pharmacy so that you can produce the same colour shade again at any time.
- You can paint "circles" or "horizontal eights" with all application tools to distribute the glaze and create cloudy textures. However, you can also work in a "criss-cross pattern", i.e. apply lots of overlapping crosses in an x-shape or simply spread the glaze in one direction only. The same applies here: try everything!
- When dabbing, do not leave the material too thick.
- You can simply paint hard-to-reach nooks and crannies with a flat brush and then work as far as possible with a glove, sponge or cloth.
- A "failed" glaze can usually not be saved. In such a case, it is better to paint over everything again with white and start again.
- LEINOS Wall-Wipe Varnish can also be perfectly combined with the stencilling technique.

Drying time
Dried after 1-2 hours, completely dry after approx. 24 hours.

Consumption
Approx. 30-50 litres/m². However, this may vary depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
